Teaching Lab Renovations Expand Hands-on Learning

This summer, Design and Construction Management, in collaboration with university partners, oversaw the transformation of 11 teaching labs on campus — updating technology and workspaces and increasing capacity to make these spaces work better for both students and instructors. This work represents the first round of a pilot program designed to establish a process for teaching lab renovations that’s optimized for making impactful improvements within budget and time constraints. 

Staff Profile: Andrea Alonzo

Andrea Alonzo connects her passion for architecture and supporting her community as a project manager at UC Davis Design and Construction Management. 

Before transitioning to her current role, Alonzo spent many years in the private sector where she found a way to give back to her community — working on education projects. 

 

“Designing for the education sector is designing for the future of our kids,” Alonzo said, “ I have kids myself so it is something really important to me.”
